Dr Gabriela Petrof MBBS PhD

Special interests: Epidermolysis bullosa and skin fragility disorders, epidermal differentiation disorders (congenital ichthyosis, Netherton syndrome), ectodermal dysplasias, severe eczema and infantile haemangiomas 

Dr Gabriela Petrof is a Consultant Paediatric Dermatologist and current lead of the dermatology service at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, with expertise in the care of children and adults with complex and rare skin conditions. Her clinical work combines specialist dermatology practice with a strong academic and research background in genetic and inflammatory skin disease.

Dr Petrof graduated in medicine in 2004 from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She completed her dermatology specialist training in London and the West Midlands. She was awarded a PhD for her work on allogeneic cell therapies in dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB) as part of the Genetic Skin Disease Group.

Her clinical practice covers the full spectrum of dermatology, with a particular focus on paediatric dermatology and inflammatory skin conditions. She has specialist expertise in epidermolysis bullosa and skin fragility disorders, congenital ichthyosis, Netherton syndrome, severe eczema, and infantile haemangiomas.

Dr Petrof plays an active role in national dermatology guidance as a member of the British Association of Dermatologists Therapy and Guidelines Committee, contributing to treatment recommendations and patient information resources. Her research has resulted in numerous publications in high-impact journals and presentations at national and international conferences.
