Margaret Monckton appointed Chief Financial Officer of Great Ormond Street Hospital

Margaret Monckton has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Margaret joins the hospital from the University of Nottingham where she has been Chief Financial Officer for the last eight years.

She said: “I’m excited to be joining Great Ormond Street Hospital to support the work of the staff providing the best possible care to their patients.

“My interests in education and research will fit in well at Great Ormond Street Hospital and I am eager to learn more about the breakthroughs and transformations that I know will be in the pipeline.”

Matthew Shaw, Chief Executive of Great Ormond Street Hospital, said: “We are delighted to welcome Margaret to the hospital. She brings a wealth of experience from across vital sectors, with a particular focus on education and research.

“She goes above and beyond in her roles to share her knowledge and expertise with colleagues and partners. I am greatly looking forward to working with her as she brings her vision and drive to Great Ormond Street Hospital.”

In addition to the University of Nottingham, Margaret has previously worked at Staffordshire University, Nottinghamshire Police, The National College for Leadership of Schools and Children’s Services and Boots.

She has also held a number non executive roles including being a governor for a further education college, the lead higher education sector pension scheme negotiator for UCEA and an independent member of the Officer for Students Audit Committee.

She is currently the Chair of the NOVA Education Trust and a Non Executive Director at University Hospital North Midlands NHS Trust.

Margaret will take up her position on 6 January and will replace Lore Lippmann, the acting CFO.
