Find out details of services and prayer times offered by the chaplaincy and spiritual care department at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
Annual memorial service
The next service will take place on Saturday 27 April 2019 at 230pm in St George the Martyr Church, Queen's Square.
This is a multi-faith service of thanksgiving and remembrance for all families whose child has been cared for by GOSH. Families are given the opportunity to light a candle for their child and the name of each child is read aloud during a simple act of remembrance.
Some families bring a photo of their child and place it on a table at the front for the duration of the service. All bereaved families whose child has been cared for by Great Ormond Street are welcome to attend.
Weekly prayers and services
Monday to Fridays at 10.30am – short prayers for the hospital in St Christopher's Chapel.
Wednesdays at 12.30pm – Holy Communion in St Christopher's Chapel.
Fridays at 1pm – Jumah Prayers in The Charles West Room.
Weekly coffee morning
The chaplaincy team hosts a drop-in coffee morning for families and staff every Tuesday from 10.30–12.30pm, with help from volunteers from The Mothers' Union. The main aim of this event is to offer an informal and welcoming environment outside the ward setting for support and conversation, aided by coffee and home-made cakes. This takes place in the St Christopher's Chapel foyer, Variety Club Building Level 2.
The chaplaincy and spiritual care team regularly hold special events and services to celebrate the major festivals of different faith traditions. For example, Christmas and Easter, Purim, Succot and Hanukkah, as well as for Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
