Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH) has appointed Adrian Joseph OBE as a new Non-Executive Director.

Mr Joseph will join six other Non-Executive Directors on the Trust Board, who collectively contribute to developing the Trust’s strategy, monitoring its performance and representing GOSH externally.

Mr Joseph is a Board member, public speaker, and AI Advisor with extensive senior leadership experience in data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. Until August 2023, he served as the Chief Data and AI Officer at BT Group, leading a team of professionals in these fields. Before joining BT, he was a senior Partner at Ernst & Young (EY), heading the Data and AI practice for Financial Services in the UK. His career at EY followed over a decade of experience in cloud, digital and data science in executive roles at Google.

As a Non-Executive Director, Mr Joseph has contributed to various boards, including the UK government's Home Office Board, the Cabinet Office People Board, and Business in the Community, where he chaired the Race Equality Board for five years. He also served as an Expert Member of the UK AI Council, advising on the national AI strategy and was a Trustee of the Aleto Foundation, a charity which helps young people from non-privileged backgrounds.

Currently, Mr Joseph is a Non-Executive Director at Direct Line Insurance Group plc and Allwyn Entertainment (UK National Lottery operator). He also sits on the Technology Advisory Board of NatWest Group. A passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, he was recognised with an OBE in the 2019 New Year’s Honours List.

Commenting on his new appointment, Mr Joseph said:

"It is a privilege to join the Great Ormond Street Hospital Board. I am humbled by the opportunity to support GOSH's vital work in providing world-class care to children and young people facing complex health challenges. I look forward to collaborating with my fellow board members, the talented staff at GOSH and the inspiring Young People's Forum to leverage digital innovation and AI to transform healthcare, ensuring that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has the best possible chance at a healthy and fulfilling life."
