Directorates

There are six corporate directorates at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), with Executive Directors providing top-level management.

Finance Directorate

This directorate is responsible for financial strategy, management and control, and ensuring that the Trust meets its financial obligations.

It is headed by the Chief Finance Officer, John Beswick, and is supported by Associate Directors of Finance for Financial Management, Jonathan Wharton; Contracting, Income and Costing, Sue Blannin; and Financial Control, Neil Redfern.

Corporate Function under Medical Director

The Medical Director post is held by Dr Sanjiv Sharma.

The Director of Safety Surveillance, Claire Harrison, reports to Dr Sharma. 

The Quality and Safety Teams are responsible for ensuring there are systems and processes in place for managing and monitoring all aspects of risk.

Operations Directorate

The Operations Directorate is the strategic and operational management arm of the Trust. It brings together strategic development, planning and performance, facilities management and family policy.

These sections work together to lead on business planning, clinical improvement and parent and patient involvement initiatives. They also ensure that the Trust is meeting its obligations within financial and human resource constraints.

John Quinn is the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the operations directorate. Ella Vallins is the Head of Strategy and Planning and Rebecca Stevens is Head of Performance.

Directorate of Nursing

The Nursing Directorate focuses on attracting, maintaining and continuously developing a contented and effective workforce.

In order to best meet the needs of the children and their families, the Directorate of Nursing supports frontline teams.

This includes exploring new roles that challenge traditional professional boundaries, and ensuring that individual staff members are encouraged and developed to reach their full potential.

The Directorate of Nursing is headed by the Chief Nurse, Tracy Luckett.

Human Resources and Organisational Development

The Human Resources Directorate is headed by Caroline Anderson Director of HR and OD.

The Directorate is responsible for the developments and delivery of a human resources strategy and delivering the Trust's organisational development programmes.

Built Environment

This directorate is responsible for managing the long-term redevelopment work and modernisation of the hospital.

The Built Environment directorate is headed by the Interim Director of Space and Place, Jason Dawson.

Clinical Directorates

There are now seven clinical directorates including the International Private Patients division at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.

Each of these directorates combines specialties, which function to provide an integrated approach to patient-focused care and service delivery.
