Conditions treated within the Tracheal service

The Tracheal service at Great Ormond Street Hospital receives referrals for children with many different tracheal related problems.  Often these problems are very unique and an individualised plan is required, but some of the more common referrals include:

  • tracheal stenosis (narrowing of the windpipe)
  • tracheo/bronchomalacia (floppy, weak, soft airway)
  • tracheal compression
  • post FETO complications
  • diseases involving the airways:
    • bronchogenic cysts
    • tumours
    • laryngeal clefts
    • tracheo-oesphageal fistulae
