Co-leads of the Neuropsychology Service:

Dr Sara Shavel Jessop, QiCN Consultant Paediatric Neuropsychologist

Dr Sara Shavel-Jessop is Co-Lead of the Neuropsychology and Tic Disorder Services. She has worked in GOSH since 2005 across paediatric psychology and neuropsychology services and specialises in the neuropsychological assessment and treatment of children with neurological conditions (especially epilepsy), neurodevelopmental disorders, and tics. Dr Shavel-Jessop is an Honorary Associate Professor at UCL, and the Programme Director for the UCL MSc/PGDip in Paediatric Neuropsychology.

Dr Tara Murphy, QiCN Consultant Paediatric Neuropsychologist

Dr Tara Murphy is Co-Lead of the Neuropsychology and Tic Disorder Services. She has worked at GOSH since 2003 in paediatric psychology and neuropsychology services and specialises in the neuropsychological assessment and treatment of children with neurological conditions and neurodevelopmental disorders.

Professor Faraneh Vargha-Khadem C Psychol, F Med Sci

Special interests: developmental amnesia and other memory disorders, genetically-based speech and language disorders, cognitive and sensorimotor disorders resulting from focal lesions, complex epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, brain tumours, and medico-legal expert witness in neuropsychology.

Specialist Neuropsychologists

Dr Daniel Stark, DClinpsy, QiCN

Dr Daniel Stark is a Clinical Psychologist and Paediatric Neuropsychologist. Daniel has worked across a range of clinical NHS services, including Tier 4 specialist CAMHS, community CAMHS, regional specialist neurosciences centres as well as specialist neuropsychology services. He has an interest in the identification, treatment and management of neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions, particularly those that co-occur with mental-health difficulties. Daniel works as neuropsychologist for children and families on the epilepsy surgery pathway.

Dr Charlotte Malcolm, DClinPsy, SRCN

Dr Charlotte Malcolm is a Principal Paediatric Clinical Neuropsychologist. She has specialised in neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation of children with a range of neurological conditions with expertise and interests in paediatric neuro-oncology, neurovascular conditions, neuro-immunology, and genetic neurological conditions. Charlotte is co-chair of a national specialist interest group for paediatric neuro-oncology and currently leads our neuro-oncology service. Charlotte is also the senior neuropsychologist for the pathway for the neurovascular and demyelinating conditions.

Dr Anna Hurley, DClinPsy, QiCN

Dr Anna Hurley is a Paediatric Neuropsychologist and Clinical Psychologist who has worked across a range of specialist NHS services, including paediatric neuropsychology, child development and CAMHS teams. She currently specialises in the assessment of children with epilepsy and associated neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions.

Dr Rachel Cole, EdPsychol, SRCN

Dr Rachel Cole is an Educational Psychologist, specialising in epilepsy and associated neurological conditions. She has a particular interest in making neuropsychology relevant to schools; as such, she contributes to the Educational Psychology and Paediatric Neuropsychology training, both at UCL.

Clinical and Educational Psychologists

Dr Patricia Martin-Sanfilippo CPsychol

Dr Patricia Martin Sanfilippo is a Clinical Psychologist. She has worked with children with genetic disorders including Turner and Klinefelter syndrome. Since 2008, Patricia has specialised in the assessment of children and young adults who have undergone epilepsy surgery. She has a research interest in cognitive outcomes of epilepsy surgery.

Dr Isabelle Sharples, EdPsychol

Dr Isabelle Sharples is an Educational Psychologist specialising in neuropsychology. She has worked with children and families across many contexts, including in assessment and rehabilitation settings for neurological conditions and acquired brain injury. Isabelle is currently a senior psychologist for neuro-oncology and general neuropsychology at GOSH.
