Rachel Andrews

Dr Andrews was appointed to her current post as a Consultant Cardiologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital in March 2011.

She trained in paediatric and fetal cardiology at Great Ormond Street and Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals, and prior to taking up her current appointment, worked as a locum consultant in both units.

Interests include factors affecting outcomes of structural and functional heart disease, and in particular use of echo as a prognostic tool. She also lectures on medical ethics and works with several charities including Chain of Hope.

Specialisms

Dr Andrews is mainly involved with the heart failure and transplant service, but also undertakes some general and fetal cardiac clinics.

Research Interests

Dr Andrews is currently co-ordinating the five year follow-up of the national Heart Failure from Heart Muscle Disease in Children study, on behalf of the British Congenital Cardiac Association.
