Moving from Code to Clinic: how GOSH and Roche are turning data into better care
2 Nov 2026, 9 a.m.
Our 5-year partnership with Roche has brought together expertise in clinical care, AI and data science to help unlock insights from complex healthcare data in a safe and secure way. Watch our new animation to learn more about the journey from code to clinic.
Every day at GOSH we generate vast amounts of data through routine patient care, which helps clinicians track and make decisions about individual care. However, using the data to spot trends at a larger scale to further our understanding of conditions and treatments can be challenging as the data is locked away in different systems and reports.
Since 2021, we have been working with Roche through a unique partnership that combines clinical expertise, artificial intelligence and data science to tackle this challenge in a safe and secure way.
The collaboration created the Clinical Insights Unit, using advanced analytics on operational data to move from asking “what has happened?” to “what would happen if...?” helping teams use hospital data more effectively to support decision-making, improve efficiency and develop innovative tools for clinicians.
The partnership has delivered tangible benefits, including helping free up hospital bed capacity, identifying significant financial opportunities and developing AI-powered tools that support faster diagnoses, smarter workflows and more personalised care.
All tools are owned entirely by GOSH and strict governance means Roche never see any identifiable patient data.
