These are some of the investigations your child may have when trying to making a diagnosis:
- blood tests
- magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- lumbar puncture
- specialised eye tests including visual evoked potential (VEP) and electroretinogram (ERG)
- electroencephalograph (EEG)
We have many treatments which we use to manage the different neuroimmunological conditions. Any medication which your child is started on will be discussed with you and the risks and benefits of the treatment will be explained fully.
These are some of the treatments that we may use:
- steroids (intravenous and oral)
- disease modifying drugs (first line)
- disease modifying drugs (second line including fingolimod and natalizumab)
- rituximab
- azathioprine
- mycophenolate mofetil
- intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIG)
- plasma exchange
