The Sight and Sound Centre
The Sight and Sound Centre is an Outpatients department, children and young people come for a clinic appointment. Its the first dedicated medical facility for children with sight and hearing loss in the UK.
The Sight and Sound Centre is home to a number of specialities including
- Audiology
- Opthalmology
- Ears Nose and Throat
- Speech and Language
The building has five levels, please check in at the reception desk or by using a check in kiosk so we know you have arrived.
Most clinic appointments start with a clinic assistant carrying out some checks which may involve height and weight. Once this has been completed you will be directed to a waiting area by a member of staff. The clinician will then call your name when they are ready.
Location
The Sight and Sound Centre is located at the top of Queen Square, just a short walk from the main hospital.

Facilities
A first-of-its-kind for children in the UK, the Centre features state-of-the-art soundproofed booths for hearing tests, an eye imaging suite, a dispensing opticians and a sensory room. There is a sensory garden and bespoke and engaging artworks throughout the building.
There are toilet facilities within Sight and Sound including a disabled toilet with hoist, there are also baby changing facilities and a room where you can feed your baby.
There are interactive play screens in each waiting area, toys and a range of activities provided by members of the play team.
Please keep an eye on your child while they are waiting – you are responsible for their behaviour at all times.
