Children come here for scans like MRI scans or ultrasound scans or have procedures like angiography or biopsies.
Many of the studies we perform involve the use of X-rays. Legally, we are obliged to ask any girls over the age of 12 whether there is any chance they might be pregnant. This is to protect any unborn children from receiving un-necessary radiation.
Mothers accompanying their children for tests, who may be needed to help hold their child still during the study, may also be asked this question.
