Patients can be referred to the out-patient chronic pain management service using the guidance given in the following sections.

Acute Pain Service

  • For inpatient pain referrals and advice Bleep: 0577 (24 hours service)
  • Acute Pain Clinical Nurse Specialists cover:
    • Monday - Friday: 8am to 8pm
    • Saturdays: 9am to 3.30pm
  • Duty Anaesthetist provides cover outside of these hours
  • For non-urgent advice call the Pain Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS’s):020 7405 9200 Ext: 5940 (24 hr answerphone).

Note: Inpatients with chronic pain problems who are not already under our care will need a consultant-to-consultant referral to outpatient chronic pain service.
