Events for teenagers who have had cancer

Who is this event for? 

For young people aged 13 to 18.

What is does this event involve? 

A chance for young people who have had childhood cancer or cancer-like illness, to meet others with a similar experience. 

A fun day of activities and workshops designed to help young people to get to know each other, with a focus on both how to manage life after cancer. Join us for a day of dun, and meet others with common ground. 

When is this event? 

This will take place on a Saturday in the Autumn and is face to face, taking place either at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) or a central London venue.

Who is this event for? 

For young people aged 13 to 18.

What does this event involve? 

An online meeting with a Mental Health First Aider, who will talk about managing our mental health around Christmas time. Followed by a fun festive activity- we’ll send you a festive activity pack to you at home in advance! 

When is this event? 

This will take place on evening in December 2026, exact date to be confirmed.

Who is this event for? 

For young people aged 13 to 18 with a diagnosis, or past diagnosis, of cancer, or cancer-like illness.

What does this event involve? 

In ‘Beads of Life’ we’ll use beads to share personal stories about cancer experiences, in a way that is empowering and strengthening. The beads are used as ‘hooks’ to hang your stories on. In the workshop we’ll encourage you to see yourself as the expert in your own story.

The workshop aims to reduce isolation and the negative impact of cancer. It also fosters hope and better care by helping us all to see the person beyond the illness.

When is this event? 

A face-to-face event at GOSH in Spring 2027

Events for parents and carers

Who is this event for? 

For parents and carers of patients who are new to the Long Term Follow Up Service. 

What does this event involve? 

You will receive an invitation to this event if your child is due to come to the Long Term Follow Up clinic for the first time. The session aims to provide information about what Long Term Follow Up is, what to expect from the service and advice from a variety of professionals. 

When is this event? 

This event usually takes place in the month of June at GOSH and is face to face.
