Clinics and wards used by the Congenital Hand and Limb Service
The Congenital Hand and Limb Service uses several wards at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
Wards
Children undergoing hand surgery will usually be admitted to Woodpecker ward before surgery. They will then be looked after on one of our surgical wards - usually Panther for overnight stays and Nightingale ward for Day Case Admissions.
The surgical team undertake twice daily ward rounds on Panther Ward when they will review your child's progress and update you on any changes in their care.
Once your child is ready, they will be discharged home and a follow up appointment will be made. You will be given information prior to discharge on caring for your child after surgery (For example, our 'Looking after your child after hand and foot surgery' information sheet).
Clinics
Outpatient clinics are held in the various locations across GOSH. Please refer to your clinic appointment letter to confirm the location of your appointment.
Consultant clinics run every Wednesday afternoon and Thursday Morning and there is a registrar post-operative clinic on Thursday afternoons.
Clinics are also attended by the hand therapist who will carry out functional assessment, prescribe exercise regimes and make splints if required.
Dressing clinics run by the clinical nurse specialists are held on Magpie Ward.
