Grant Stuart

Dr Grant Stuart is a Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist and has worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital since 2012. He maintains an interest in teaching and training and is an advanced paediatric life support instructor.

Specialisms

Dr Stuart is interested in anaesthesia for children with rare diseases and metabolic illness as well as anaesthesia for cleft palate, urology and scoliosis surgery. He has pioneered the use of dexmedetomidine as a nurse-led sedative for MRI scans in children in the United Kingdom.

Qualifications

Dr Stuart completed his medical training in South Africa, qualifying from the University of Cape Town in 1998. He completed his anaesthetic training through the Imperial School of Anaesthesia in London in 2011 and spent time as a Clinical Fellow at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto before taking up his post at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Research Interests

Dr Stuart has published on aspects of anaesthesia for rare and metabolic diseases in children and on dexmedetomidine sedation for MRI scans in children.
