Dr Elena Fernandez, Consultant Anaesthetist
Dr Elena Fernandez is a Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist and has worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital since 2009.
She is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the UCL Institute of Child Health.
Specialisms
Dr Elena Fernandez is interested in all aspects of paediatric anaesthesia with a special emphasis on anaesthesia for ENT, Maxillofacial surgery, Neurosurgery and Pre-operative Assessment.
Qualifications
Dr Fernandez completed her medical training in Spain, qualifying from the University Complutense of Madrid in 1996. After medical posts in cardiology and intensive care at the Middlesex Hospital, she trained in anaesthesia at University College London Hospital, St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London Hospitals. Prior to her appointment as a consultant, she undertook a research Fellowship at Great Ormond Street Hospital and The Royal London Hospitals and a locum consultant post at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

Research Interests
Dr Fernandez is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the UCL Institute of Child Health.
Her research interests include paediatric difficult airway, quality improvement and outcome measures in anaesthesia.
