Dr Alasdair Bamford is a consultant in paediatric infectious diseases at Great Ormond Street Hospital and an Honorary Associated Professor at UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health.

Qualifications

BA MBBS FRCPCH DTM+H PhD

Dr Bamford completed medical training at University of Cambridge and University College London in 2001. He completed training in paediatric infectious diseases at Great Ormond Street, St Mary’s Hospital and Evelina London Children’s Hospital. He was awarded an NIHR research training fellowship and completed a PhD on paediatric HIV immunology at Imperial College London in collaboration with the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health.

Research

Dr Bamford is a trial clinician at the MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL contributing to multiple international trials and observational studies relating to infection in childhood and is PI or c-PI on a number of studies at GOSH.

He is a member of the Scientific Steering Committee for the Penta ID network where he is co-lead for training and education. Roles with WHO include membership of the Global Accelerator for Paediatric Formulations Network (GAP-f) Clinical Research Working Group as well as the Paediatric Antiretroviral Working Group (PAWG).
