Simon Critchlow

Simon Critchlow is a Consultant and Specialist in Restorative Dentistry who recently joined the team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He is the lead Restorative Dentist in the North Thames region for cleft lip and palate patients and a founder member of the Restorative Dentistry Cleft Clinical Excellence Network.

“My aim is always to provide the highest quality patient-focused dental treatment. I work closely with the Maxillofacial, Orthodontic and Speech and Language teams at Great Ormond Street which enables me to provide integrated care with the best outcomes for my patients.” 

Specialisms

Provision of interim and definitive oral rehabilitation for the following groups of patients:

  • Patients with congenital and developmental disorders resulting in missing and malformed teeth, including patients with cleft lip and palate and craniofacial syndromes. 
  • Teenagers and young adults with orofacial trauma.
  • Teenagers and young adults who have had surgery for tumours of the jaws

Treatments include

  • Reshaping and restoration of compromised teeth 
  • Replacement of missing teeth 
  • Dental implants 
  • Speech Prostheses

Qualifications

BDS MSc MFDS FDS(RestDent)

GDC registered specialist in Prosthdontics, Periodontics, Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry.

Completed a 2-year Master’s Degree in Restorative Dentistry followed by 5 years of specialist training in Restorative Dentistry at The Royal London Hospital.

Member of the British Society of Restorative Dentistry, British Society of Prosthodontics, Restorative Dentistry Cleft Clinical Excellence Network.

GDC Registered Specialist in Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry

Research Interests

Outcomes of dental treatment in cleft lip and palate patients.

Treatment of patients with velopharyngeal insufficiency with speech appliances

Speech Prosthetics
