Neil Austin
He has been working on the Mildred Creak children's inpatient psychiatric unit since 2010, and is responsible for overseeing the inpatient and outpatient follow up psychotherapy interventions.
Specialisms
These include psychodynamic psychotherapy treatment of somatoform disorders, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, emerging personality disorders and mentalisation based approaches with children and adolescents.
He has extensive clinical experience of multi-disciplinary teamwork within inpatient settings, working with children and adolescents who present with complex and severe mental health difficulties.
Qualifications
BA (Hons), MA, M Psych Psych, MACP
Neil first trained in adult psycho-analytic psychotherapy at the Arbours Association in London. He subsequently trained as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist at the Tavistock Clinic, also in London.
He is a member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists.
Research Interests
Current research interests include measuring children's capacity for reflective functioning and being able to make use of outpatient psychological therapies following therapeutic milieu inpatient treatment.
