Intravenous (IV) Therapy Team
The IV Therapy Team work within the Infection, Cancer and Immunity and Laboratory Medicines directorate at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
We are known as IV Therapy Nurse Specialists and work Monday to Friday, 8am until 6pm. As a team we cover the following wards: Penguin, Lion, Elephant, Safari, Fox and Robin.
The role of the IV Team is to ensure IV therapy practice within the directorate is current and evidence based. We also ensure it is practised in accordance with both Trust-wide and National standards. The team advises, troubleshoots and problem solves in relation to all aspects of IV therapy with a particular focus on central venous access devices (CVADs) for example.
