Update for patients and families on industrial action
18 Jul 2025, 4 p.m.
As you may be aware, some of our Resident Doctors will be taking part in planned industrial action from 7am on Friday 25 July to 7am on Wednesday 30 July.
Please be reassured that providing safe care for our patients and families remains our priority, and we are working hard to continue to best support all our patients and families.
What this means for you and your child
To be able to provide safe care, we are working to identify which patients can safely go home, and either start or resume their care later, and those who do need to remain in hospital.
Your clinical team will be in touch with you to help explain if you/your child:
- needs to stay in hospital;
- can be transferred to a hospital closer to home; or
- can return home.
Your clinical team will talk you through any changes to the plan of care for you/your child.
We know that most of our parents/carers remain with their child throughout their time at GOSH and support with basic care needs. This is especially important during the strike period and we want to thank you in advance for your continued support.
Please note that there will not be a picket line at the main entrance of the hospital during the planned industrial action.
Who can I speak to if I have further questions?
This is a difficult situation, and we know that this may cause you added worry or concern. Please speak to your clinical team or contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) via email pals@gosh.nhs.uk or by telephone on 020 7829 7862 if you have any further questions.
Finally, we want to thank our patients, families and carers for their understanding at this difficult time.
