We’re proud to share our new Trust Strategy for Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, Together we power care. This is our vision for the future, and the steps we’ll take to achieve our ambitions of delivering life-changing care for our children and young people, now and for generations to come.

This strategy was built together – with our patients, families, colleagues and partners. It’s all about how we can provide the best possible outcomes for the children, young people, adolescents and families who need us.

It will guide us as an organisation to focus on what truly matters - to innovate, collaborate, and harness all of our strengths, from cutting-edge research to compassionate care. By working together, we make sure that advances in science, technology and practice reach the children and families who rely on us for their care.

Why we need a strategy

The NHS is changing. The 10-year plan sets three major shifts: from hospital to community, from analogue to digital, and from sickness to prevention. It also invites us to be digital and innovative, harnessing technology to improve care and outcomes.

At the same time, science and technology are advancing rapidly. Genomics, robotics, digital tools, data science and artificial intelligence are redefining what is possible. Our role is to ensure that babies, children, young people and adolescents with rare and complex conditions remain at the centre of this transformation. They rely on us for their care, and it is our responsibility to make sure that advances in science, technology and practice reach them quickly and safely.

Our strategy: the three pillars

Our new strategy focuses on shaping how we work, accelerating discovery into delivery, and embracing holistic care. Each pillar has a big move to change the game, underpinned by three flagship programmes.

Together We Shape How We Care

Brilliant care does not happen by accident. Staff need clear, connected ways of working. Families need care that is seamless and easier to navigate. Together we will build a culture of connection and collaboration to deliver brilliant, safer care in our hospital, in partnership, and out into the world.

Together We Advance Discovery, Innovation and Impact

Our patients have complex and rare conditions that threaten or limit their lives. Together we will turn GOSH into the fastest path from discovery to care.

Together We Embrace the Whole: Body, Mind, Family and Future

Children are more than their diagnosis. Care must respond to their physical, mental, social, and developmental needs. Families need clarity, guidance, and support throughout complex care journeys. We will create seamless care across Together we make care seamless and connect every age, stage, and space.
