PICU and NICU Family Liaison Team

Information for families about the PICU and NICU Family Liaison Team.

Who are the Family Liaison Team?

The Family Liaison Nurses are experienced neonatal or paediatric intensive care nurses.

Our nurses are Esther, Katie, Katrina and Lara.

We work in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) on Seahorse ward, and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on Dolphin ward.

What do the Family Liaison Team do?

We aim to meet and orientate all families of children admitted to PICU and NICU to provide practical and emotional support.

We work closely with the psychosocial team of psychologists, social workers, chaplains, play specialists, community midwives and others involved with supporting children and families.

We provide a point of contact for families either before a planned admission or during a hospital stay. If you would like to visit the unit before a planned admission so that you know what to expect, please contact us by phone or email.

How to find us

We work on NICU/PICU Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.

We will introduce ourselves to you but if you need us in the meantime, please ask your bedside nurse to contact us.
