Our Audiological Medicine team at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) comprises:

Consultant Audiovestibular Physicians

Dr Kaukab Rajput

Dr Kaukab Rajput

Dr Kaukab Rajput has been working at GOSH since 1999 and she currently leads the Cochlear Implant Department.

She specialises in hearing and balance problems in children, hearing loss, tinnitus, speech and language delay, and auditory neuropathy and ototoxicity. She has a special interest in auditory neuropathy as well as ototoxicity and prevention of hearing loss in children on ototoxic drugs.

Dr Waheeda Pagarkar

Dr Waheeda Pagarkar

Waheeda has been working at GOSH since 2018. She leads the Balance clinic and the Audiology part of the Dual Sensory Clinic. She is Educational Supervisor to audiovestibular medicine trainees.

Her special interests include paediatric vestibular disorders, dual sensory impairment, tinnitus, genetic hearing loss, auditory neuropathy, and aetiological investigations of hearing loss.  

Dr Sebastian Hendricks

Dr Sebastian Hendricks

Sebastian graduated in Germany and has been a Consultant Paediatrician since 1998 and a Consultant Audiovestibular Physician since 2004. Following main work at UCLH (Royal National ENT & ED Hospital) and the Royal Free London, he works exclusively at GOSH since May 2020.

His main interest is in general as well as complex, including complicated audiovestibular medicine and personalised management of those children and young people with additional needs.

Dr Raouf Chorbachi

Dr Raouf Chorbachi

Raouf has been working at GOSH since 1997 and has been a consultant Audio-vestibular physician since 2003.

He currently assesses and manages patients with audiovestibular disorders, specifically children with complex audiological presentation and complex needs, requiring highly specialised electrophysiological assessments.

His main interest is in assessing and managing children with hearing difficulties relating to cranio-facial conditions and clefts involving the palate.

Dr Amjad Mahmood

Lead Audiologist

Point of Contact (POC): Amjad is the point of contact for safety and oncology referral. He is also poc for private patients, microsuction services, and supports the running of the general audiology clinics alongside other Audiovestibular Consultant within the department.

Deputy Lead Audiologists

Herra Bhutta

Herra Bhutta

Herra graduated from UCL in 2007 with a BSc Hons in Audiology and has worked in several departments since. She started working at GOSH in 2012 and is currently Deputy Lead of the Audiology Department.

Her interests are vestibular testing, electrophysiological testing, auditory processing disorder (APD) and cochlear implantation.

POC: Herra is the point of contact for balance services within the department.

Nicola Guderley

Nicola Guderley

Nicola graduated from the University of Bristol in 2013. She has worked at GOSH since 2018 and is currently Deputy Lead Audiologist.

Nicola is the audiology lead for the Bone Conduction and Middle Ear Implant Programme with special interests in advanced electrophysiology and vestibular assessment.

POC: Nicola is the point of contact for bone anchored hearing aids (BAHA) services within the department.

Anita Wong

Anita Wong

Anita graduated from the University of Manchester in 2009 and has been specialising in paediatric audiology since 2012. She has been working at GOSH since 2014, and as Deputy Lead Audiologist since 2020.

Anita is currently Co-Lead for the Vestibular service, and as well as having a special interest in vestibular, she also has a keen interest in APD, and electrophysiology.

POC: Anita is the point of contact for bone anchored hearing aids (BAHA) services within the department.

Audiologists

Komal Patel

Komal Patel

Komal graduated from UCL with an undergraduate degree and an MSc in Audiology and Advanced Audiology respectively and has been working as a Paediatric Audiologist since 2011. During this period, she led two paediatric audiology teams.

She works in the Cochlear Implant and General Audiology department at GOSH. Her areas of speciality lie within Cochlear Implants, Electrophysiology with a growing interest in APD.

POC: Komal is the key point of contact for Electrophysiology within General Audiology.

Brinn

Brindha Anandanadarajah

Brindha graduated from UCL as an Audiologist in 2007 and has since completed her Masters in Research from St George’s university in 2015. She has a special interest in championing research in audiology which has resulted in her dedicating one day to research. She has worked at GOSH since 2010 and has special interests in electrophysiology and vestibular assessment also.

POC: She is currently the point of contact for APD and research.

Joseph Schneck

Joseph Schneck

Joseph has a Master’s degree in audiology from the Ear Institute at University College London. Since 2017, he has been specialising in paediatric audiology at GOSH and at the Royal London Hospital. He has designed and developed paediatric audiology testing equipment in use in a number of departments up and down the country. Joseph has has a keen interest in Balance and electrophysiological testing.

POC: Joseph is currently the point of contact for Hearing Aids within the department.

Sahil Thacker

Sahil Thacker

Sahil graduated with a BSc in Audiology from Bristol University in 2014 and has worked in paediatric audiology since 2015.

His main expertise includes paediatric diagnostic and rehabilitative assessments, auditory brainstem response testing and auditory processing assessments.

POC: Sahil is the point of contact for equipment services within the department.

Thomas Andrea

Thomas Andrea

Thomas graduated with a BSc in Physics from Royal Holloway and Bedford New College in 1991, MSc in Music Technology from the University of York in 1996, and an MSc in Audiological Science from University College London in 2006 and has been working in the department since December 2021.

His main interests are paediatric hearing assessment including electrophysiological testing and interventions including hearing aids and cochlear implants.

POC: Thomas is the point of contact for electrophysiology services within the department.

Diran Guan

Diran Guan

Diran graduated with MSc in Audiology in Auckland and joined the Audiology department in 2021. She is the Newborn Hearing Screen liaison within the department.

POC: Diran is the point of contact for the transition service and hearing aids peer reviews within the department.

Lynn Megarbane

Lynn Megarbane

Lynn graduated with a BSc and a Msc in Audiology from the University of Montreal in 2018 and has since then worked at Oxford University Hospital in paediatric audiology. She joined our team at the start of 2022. Her main interests are in hearing aids, electrophysiology and research in cochlear synaptopathy.

POC: Lynn is the point of contact for safeguarding and the transition service within the department.

Faiza Younus

Faiza Younus

Faiza graduated with a BSc in Audiology from DeMontfort University in 2011 and an MSc in Research Methods in Cognitive Neuropsychology from the University of Hertfordshire in 2013. She has worked at several departments and joined our team in 2023. Her main interests are paediatric hearing assessment and rehabilitation.

POC: Faiza is the point of contact for patient experience.

Rebecca Hill

Rebecca Hill

Rebecca graduated with a MSc in Audiology from Macquarie University Sydney Australia in 2009. She has worked in many varied NHS environments and has specialised in paediatric audiology since 2012. Rebecca lecturers in audiology at University College London. Her main interests are multisensory impairment, audiology education, translation of clinical research into practice and service improvement.

POC: Rebecca is the New-born Hearing Screen liaison within the department.

Matthew Hopley

Matthew Hopley

Matthew graduated with a BSc in Audiology from the University of Bristol in 2011. He has worked in various NHS audiology departments, seeing a mix of adult and paediatric patients. His main interests are bone-conduction hearing instruments, vestibular assessment and rehabilitation.

POC: Matthew is the point of contact for the general audiology, craniofacial, cystic fibrosis and cleft palate clinics.

Zeta Martin

Zeta graduated with an MSc in Digital Marketing and a BSc in IT Management for Business from the University of West London.

She joined our team in May 2022 as the Assistant Technical Officer for the Audiology department.
