The NIHR GOSH BRC Paediatric Excellence Initiative (PEI) and GOSH Charity are delighted to host the inaugural National Paediatric Translational Research Conference on 15 -16 October 2026 at Sheffield City Hall.
This landmark UK-wide event will bring together the paediatric translational research community to share cutting-edge science, foster collaborations, and showcase emerging technologies shaping the future of child health. There will be keynote lectures from significant healthcare research figures such as Professor Lucy Chappell (NIHR CEO), Professor Bill Newman (University of Manchester), Professor Steve Turner (President of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health) and others to be announced!
Abstract Submission
We welcome abstracts for poster and oral presentation from child health researchers from all disciplines, including clinicians, non-clinical researchers, nurses, allied health professionals, pharmacists, and healthcare scientists.
All abstracts submitted to the conference should be focussed on translational research improving prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of conditions affecting children and young people and can be in any disease area. The abstracts can be submitted against one of the four conference themes detailed below:
- Genomic Medicine and -Omics
- Therapeutic Safety and Efficacy
- Data, AI, and Devices
- Advanced therapeutics
Deadline for abstracts is 30 April 2026, 5pm.

Day 1 Thursday 15 October
Early Career Researcher (ECR) Day
Designed by ECRs for ECRs. This half-day programme will showcase the work of emerging research leaders, support peer networking, and help build the professional connections essential for developing an independent research career.
Welcome Reception and Gala Dinner
All delegates are invited to attend the Welcome Drinks Reception in the Sheffield Winter Garden and the Gala Dinner (ticket purchase required) at the Sheffield Millennium Gallery on the evening of 15 October.
Day 2 Friday 16 October
Main Conference
The second day brings together the wider paediatric translational research community for keynote talks and sessions led by prominent UK healthcare and research leaders, including a keynote lecture from Lucy Chappell, Chief Scientific Adviser to the Department of Health and Social Care and CEO of the NIHR, Professor Bill Newman (University of Manchester), Professor Steve Turner (President of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health) .

Early Bird registration is open until 01 May 2026. Registration fees range from £75 for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to £150 for senior researchers.
