New Chief Financial Officer for Great Ormond Street Hospital
4 Oct 2022, 5 p.m.
John Beswick has been appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
John joins the Hospital from BT Group PLC where he has been CFO of BT Group’s Technology divisions for the last six years. John will take up post on November 14 and will replace Margaret Ashworth, the interim CFO, who joined us in May and has been in post since July.
I am delighted that John, with a wealth of commercial, innovation and financial experience from BT Group, is joining us. Our hospital has such an amazing array of services and a really strong track record in research and innovation and John’s skills will help our organisation to flourish in the years to come.

It is an honour to join the Board and Executive team at GOSH as Chief Financial Officer. GOSH is a hugely important organisation both in the UK and globally. I look forward to working with the whole GOSH team at this pivotal time.
John is an engineer and accountant by background. He spent the early years of his career as an engineer at GEC Plessey and Siemens Microelectronics before working for Deloitte and taking up a number of senior financial leadership roles at BT Group PLC.
His most recent role was CFO of BT Technology, a division of BT Group PLC, where he was responsible for all financial, commercial and risk activities for BT Group’s technology organisation, including R&D, across the globe. John was also a Board Member of Mobile Broadband Network Limited (MBNL), a joint venture between EE and Three and a Non-Executive of Dorset Integrated Care Board.
John is an advocate for lifelong learning and has served as a Non-Executive at Bournemouth University and deputy chair of their Finance and Resources Committee.
