Clinical Genetics clinics

The Clinical genetics department runs a number of specialist outpatient clinics at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

In additional we have a number of outreach clinics at several other hospitals across the North East Thames region including UCLH, Royal London Hospital, St Bartholomew's Hospital (Barts), Royal Free Hospital, Queen's Hospital (Romford), King George Hospital (Ilford), Broomfield Hospital (Chelmsford), Southend University Hospital and Colchester Hospital.

We also offer virtual appointments by video and telephone consultation, although this may not be possible if a physical examination is required as part of the appointment.

We have a number of specialty clinics in both rare disease and cancer genetics. These include craniofacial, renal, cleft, hearing loss, dual sensory, DSD (differences in sex development) and hearing loss clinics. Within cancer genetics we have specialist clinics for neuroendocrine tumours, retinoblastoma and paediatric oncology.

Your appointment

Please check the location of your clinical genetics appointment carefully on your appointment letter, to ensure you arrive at the correct hospital.

Specialist MDTs

We also run a monthly Paediatric Cancer Genetics MDT.

This is a monthly online meeting hosted by the NT GLH based at GOSH attended by Clinical Geneticists from across North Thames, Paediatric Oncologists and Paediatric Haematologists.

The main purpose is to discuss germline findings for patients who have undergone whole genome sequencing on their solid tissue tumour or haematological malignancy.

Difficult clinical cases are also discussed to achieve a regional consensus on management.
