In this 1 day simulation course, we will aim to build confidence in learners ability to recognise and manage common paediatric anaesthesia emergencies through simulation scenarios and skill sessions, enable learners to understand the differences between adult and paediatric patients in anaesthesia and build confidence in anxiety management in the paediatric setting.
Course Overview
This course is a 1 day simulation course, to provide a safe learning environment though simulation and skills sessions on paediatric anaesthesia from the view of an anaesthetic practitioner.
Learning Outcomes
To understand differences between adult and paediatric patients in anaesthesia
To facilitate candidates to practice in preparing for a paediatric patient
Become more confident in anxiety management for patients and families in a paediatric setting
To facilitate attendees to recognise and manage common paediatric anaesthesia emergencies.
Is this course for me?
Any operating department practitioner (ODP) or anaesthetic nurse working in an anaesthetic practitioner role, looking to practice skills and refresh knowledge when looking after paediatric patients in anaesthesia. The course is aimed at practitioners who work sporadically with paediatric patients and would like support.
Not suitable for anaesthetists.
