Education Lead for Clinical Simulation

Linda Chigaru

Linda is a consultant intensivist with the Children’s Acute Transport Service and anaesthetist her at GOSH. In her role as Educational Lead for Clinical Simulation she has a particular interest in faculty development, integrated simulation, and multi-disciplinary team training. She completed her initial Simulation Training in Scotland and has augmented her studies in Medical Education at University College, London.

Cristine Sortica Da Costa - SIM

Education Lead for Simulation

Cristine is a consultant neonatologist with interest in neonatal neuroscience, developmental care, and medical education. Her passion for research has led to completion of a PhD focused on the regulation of blood flow to the brain in preterm infants. Cristine is currently undertaking an MSc in Health Professional Education Research. In her new role, as Education Lead for Simulation Development, Cristine is hoping to share some of the skills she has gained with quantitative and qualitative research. Cristine is a believer that technology-enhanced learning is transforming medical education, and simulation offers a dynamic environment to foster learning and integrate innovative teaching techniques.

Operational Lead for Simulation: Emma Broughton

Emma Broughton

BN (Child), Anaesthetic Nurse, MSc Medical Simulation

Emma is a paediatric nurse who trained in Aberdeen and began her nursing career at Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital. Joining GOSH in 2014, Emma continued her career within her speciality of anaesthetics and recovery before moving into clinical education as a full time member of the Simulation Team. Emma is passionate about using simulation to create learning experiences that are innovative, engaging and meaningful. From rehearsing events alongside teams in their clinical environment, to using cutting-edge technology to safely recreate challenging events, Emma takes pride in being able to support the healthcare workforce to make clinical practice, and the hospital environment, safer for patients and staff.

Simulation Educator: Alasdair Ross

Simulation Educator

Alasdair Ross

Alasdair is an operating department practitioner (ODP) who studied in Cambridge at Addenbrookes Cambridge University Hospital. Qualifying in 2013 he specialised in anaesthetics for major vascular, trauma and liver transplant. Joining GOSH in 2016 Alasdair has continued his career in anaesthetics. Alasdair became a part of the simulation centre education team in 2018 where his enthusiasm for education continued thrive. Alasdair specialises in Theatre Team Rehearsal and MEPA courses where he helps strengthen the multi-professional team’s knowledge and confidence in difficult situations.

Simulation Educator

Ansel Godinho

BSc (Hons), PG Certificate Health Professions Education

Ansel is a registered Clinical Scientist (HCPC) and Clinical Physiologist (AHCS) with over a decade clinical experience in Paediatric Sleep Physiology. Passionate about education, Ansel was the first full time Healthcare Science Practice Educator at Great Ormond Street Hospital and during this time started developing a passion for creating simulation education for Healthcare Scientists, which has been presented at national and international conferences. This was further enhanced when he completed his Postgraduate Certificate in Health Professions Education. In both his clinical and educational roles Ansel enjoys utilising technology to promote multidisciplinary staff development focused around delivering excellent patient care. Additionally, Ansel supports the development of the Physiological Science workforce as End Point Assessor for the National School of Healthcare Science and was recognised as an Aspiring Leader at the 2025 London Healthcare Science Awards.

Simulation Technician: Amy Dines

Clinical Simulation Centre Manager

Amy Dines

BSc (hons) Biomedicine, RSciTech

Amy has extensive simulation centre experience spanning 7 years, in that time she has worked as a Simulation Technician in both undergraduate and postgraduate simulation, working with a range of high-fidelity simulators, multi-disciplinary teams and virtual technologies to aid impactful learning experiences.

Amy joined the centre as Simulation Centre Manager where she is passionate in ensuring that simulation learning opptunities, which are backed by thoughtful experiences are available all staff.

With a passion for technology enhanced learning, Amy became an ASPiH registered Technician.

Senior Simulation Technician

Daniel Carter

BA (hons) Philosophy with Politics, MA Analytic Philosophy

Daniel has worked as a technician within the field of healthcare simulation for almost three years, facilitating the training of doctors, nurses, and midwives by developing and running realistic simulated practice scenarios of emergency medical situations. Daniel works with a strong emphasis on realism and immersion, utilising advanced simulation technology and careful environmental design to create true-to-life immersive environments in which medical professionals develop their skills, becoming more practiced and confident working effectively during high-pressure situations. Daniel has worked with implementing Virtual and Augmented Reality technology to enhance simulated learning and to ensure effective and memorable learning experiences. Daniel joined the GOSH simulation team as a Senior Simulation Technician in January of 2024 with a keen technological interest and a passion for the efficacy of simulation as a teaching and learning method.

Simulation Technician

Nicole Grossman

Nicole recently joined the Clinical Simulation Team as a Simulation Technician in January 2026. She has worked for the Trust for over a decade, in both clinical and non-clinical roles. Nicole has a strong interest in healthcare education and simulation-based training. Nicole supports the delivery of high fidelity clinical scenarios by preparing, maintaining, and operating simulation equipment and manikins. She is passionate about creating safe, effective, and immersive learning environments that help develop clinical and critical skills, confidence and patient safety awareness.
