Growing up, gaining independence

This section explains about Growing Up, Gaining Independence (GUGI), a framework we use at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) to encourage and support young people to become as independent as they can with their healthcare.

Once young people have started secondary school, this is a good time to think about the skills and knowledge they will need to be able to be active participants in decisions about their future health and to gradually take on increased levels of responsibility.

We have arranged the resources into two separate areas, one for families and the other for young people. Please see the tabs below.
