Dr Usman Ali

Dr Usman Ali is a Consultant in Paediatric Anaesthesia at Great Ormond Street Hospital. In addition to his training at Great Ormond Street Hospital he completed a further fellowship at Sickkids Hospital in Toronto where he won the R J Byrick Award for conducting research aimed at improving post-operative outcomes for children undergoing opthalmic surgery. His clinical interests are in anaesthesia for Urology, Orthopaedics and Radiology.

Research Interests

Usman’s research interests are in using electronic health records to improve patient outcomes. He has built clinical decision aides to help reduce post-operative pain and post-operative nausea and vomiting for children having squint surgery. He is currently collaborating with the UCL institute of health informatics where he investigates the role of big data in healthcare.
