Andreas Roposch

Mr Andreas Roposch has been a Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) since 2005. 

He has a particular interest in the treatment of complex hip problems in children and young people including all aspects of disease.

Mr Roposch trained in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Vienna, as well as at Children's Hospital San Diego, USA. He qualified as an orthopaedic surgeon in 2000 and completed fellowship training in paediatric orthopaedics and trauma from 2002-3003, followed by a fellowship in paediatric and adolescent hip surgery (2003-2005) – both at the prestigious Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.

Before joining Great Ormond Street Hospital, Mr Roposch was a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Deputy Clinical Lead of Paediatric Orthopaedics at the University of Vienna.

Ongoing research activities

Mr Roposch is leading a UK-wide study on the genetics of childhood hip dysplasia with over 15 participating centres. His group is also studying modulating factors and prognosis in neonatal hip dysplasias in a population based cohort study, and how parents make difficult decisions about operative treatment on behalf of their children.
