What does being a governor mean to you?

Being a Governor means a whole lot, in terms of giving back to this amazing hospital and being a part of the decision making process that will enable GOSH to further grow and continue supporting patients and families with the finest care possible.

What are you looking forward to in your role as a governor?

I’m looking forward to acting as an advocate for the Young People’s Forum (YPF) and ensuring the voice of patients and siblings is heard in these crucial meetings and discussions of the future vision of the Hospital. As well as working with the rest of the fabulous team of Governors and staff and learning more about the logistics of how the hospital is run.

What lasting impact would you like to leave as a governor?

I hope I can inspire more young people especially members of the YPF to take on this role by seeing how vital representing their voice is in ensuring the patient is at the heart of every decision.

What do you admire about GOSH?

The resilience, perseverance and empathy that is seen in every facet at GOSH is remarkable. Whether it’s each member of staff ensuring that they provide the highest quality of patient centred care or through the high calibre of research produced to the outstanding fundraising done by friends and families, you can see this spirit emulated in everyone.

What are you looking forward to in your role as a governor?

This is my second term and I have really enjoyed understanding how GOSH works ‘behind the scenes’.

What lasting impact would you like to leave as a governor?

That thinking about research at GOSH becomes the business of all Governors.

What do you admire about GOSH?

As well as being a Governor, I happen to be a clinician at GOSH and also the parent of an ex patient at GOSH and from each of these perspectives. I have always seen first-hand the expertise, commitment and compassion of the staff at GOSH – truly ‘the child first and always’.

As a child I wanted to be an archaeologist.
