Nursing in our Neurosciences Unit
The Neurosciences Unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is a world leader in the care of children with complex neurological conditions and children requiring specialist neurosurgery.
We are one of the largest teams in the hospital. However, demand for our services and our planned service growth means that we are looking to recruit nursing staff with a range of skills to complement our team.
The nature of our work varies across the unit which includes:
- specialist neurology
- craniofacial surgery
- intensive care
- high dependency
- child and adolescent mental health.
You do not have to be an expert to work here – we will help you to become one by working with you to develop your specialist skills and progress your nursing career. Our practice education team will work with you to develop a tailor-made education and training programme to help you develop your specialist skills.
We are in the midst of a major redevelopment project at the hospital. The new Morgan Stanley Clinical Building contains a state-of-the-art centre for neurosciences and three cardiac-neuro operating theatres. The Morgan Stanley Clinical Building is the first of two buildings which comprise the Mittal Children's Medical Centre.
When the second building opens in 2017, these facilities will allow us to treat up to 20 per cent more children and will offer a well-designed, child-friendly space.
