ART - Anticipating Returning to Training

14, 18 and 19 September 2023

Have you had a period of absence from training or practice?

Are you feeling rusty, or just a bit apprehensive about your return?

Who should come on this course?

ACPs and doctors in training from a paediatric, anaesthetic, and paediatric critical care background, who are returning after a period of absence for any reason.

Why This Course?

Anticipating returning to training is a 3-day course which aims to improve your confidence in navigating the challenges associated with the care of unwell paediatric patients.   You will be given the opportunity to update your skills and identify areas which may benefit from additional training.

What will the course cover?

Day 1 - Online

This day will be held online and aims to give trainees the opportunity to rotate through 6 different stations to update their skills and identify areas which may benefit from additional training.

Day 2 & 3 - Face 2 Face in SIM Centre @ GOSH

The course is delivered face to face, by an expert faculty of paediatric anaesthetists, intensivists, psychologists and simulation practitioners. Virtual workshops will cover a broad spectrum of clinical presentations and address how we can best support ourselves in retuning to practice.  Workshops are designed to enhance practice in the skills required to manage unwell paediatric patients. These include basic airway management and cannulation techniques followed by immersive paediatric simulation scenarios, specially selected to meet individual learning need.

**Please note, once you book onto this course your place is not confirmed. You will receive written confirmation from PGME.education@gosh.nhs.uk if your registration is successful.

You are required to attend both an Online and Face-2-Face Session in order to have completed the entirety of the course.

RCPCH has approved this activity for CPD in accordance with the current RCPCH CPD guidelines.
