Do you want more confidence with difficult neonatal airways and tracheostomies?
Join us for our Royal College of Anaesthetists, CPD approved, one day course focusing on the management of artificial neonatal airways.
This course is led by expert paediatric anaesthetists, neonatologists and the Great Ormond Street Hospital tracheostomy team.
Course overview
Neonatal airway management is universally challenging across specialities. Paediatricians have minimal formal airway training built within their curriculum and anaesthetists have limited exposure to neonates.
This one day cross-speciality course aimed at speciality registrars that delivers basic and advanced neonatal airway training. It is mapped against the curricula outlined in the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Royal College of Paediatric for 6 CPD points.
The number of candidates is limited to 15 per course to ensure delegates rotate through all stations and get enough hands-on experience. The faculty consists of a team of experienced paediatric anaesthetists, ENT surgeons, tracheostomy specialist nurses, neonatologists and simulation educators based in hospitals across London.
The course consists of:
- Short lectures on neonatal anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and the difficult neonatal airway.
- Basic airway skill stations including bag mask ventilation, supraglottic airways and intubation.
- Advanced airway skill stations including failed intubation management, video laryngoscopes and neonatal tracheostomies.
- High fidelity simulated neonatal emergencies to practice skills and develop human factors.
Who is the course for?
We recommend the course for paediatricians ST4-7 and anaesthetists ST3-5 and Advanced Clinical Practitioners working with neonates, however we welcome enquiries from all levels of paediatricians/anaesthetists
