Tony Sirimanna

Dr Tony Sirimanna is a Paediatric Audiological Physician. He has worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) for sixteen years and is currently head of the Audiology, Audiological Medicine and Cochlear Implant Department.

He is also the Clinical Champion for Paediatric Audiology in London advising the NHS Newborn Hearing Screening Programme, supporting SHA screening improving committees on policies and acts as a local champion for Hearing and Communication for the SHA and Department of Health.

He is the current lead for the Paediatric Heads of Services group in London, a quality assurance consultant and the Medical lead for the NHS Newborn Hearing Screening Programme in England.

Dr Sirimanna is also involved in training doctors in audiological medicine and is the current secretary of the SAC (Specialist Advisory Committee) in audiological medicine at the Royal College of Physicians in London and the Chair of the Clinical Standards Group of the British Association of Audiological Physicians.

Dr Sirimanna’s special interests include paediatric audiology, aetiology of hearing loss, auditory processing and auditory neuropathy spectrum.

Qualifications and training


Trained in audiological medicine in Cardiff and GOSH. Formerly an ENT surgeon.

Research interests

Auditory processing disorder, aetiology of hearing loss, bone anchored hearing aids and auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder.
