Children who need investigations into suspected endocrine, metabolic, renal, neurology, dermatology, rheumatology, gastroenterology or urology disorders are seen on Kingfisher Ward.
Wards
Kingfisher Ward is our investigations unit where a wide number of tests are carried out. If your child is being admitted to Kingfisher Ward, this admission will have been planned with a clear idea of the investigations he or she needs.
Squirrel Ward specialises in metabolic, endocrine and gastroenterology conditions. This ward is also a specialist centre for hyperinsulinaemia (where the body produces too much insulin).
Clinics
General endocrine outpatient clinics are run daily and speciality clinics occur regularly for the following disorders: Congenital Hyperinsulinism, Haematology and Late Effects, Midline and Pituitary Disease, Bone, Thyroid, Turners Syndrome, Disorders of Sex Development, Endocrine surgery, Complex Diabetes, Paediatric Gynaecology and Skeletal Dysplasias.
These clinics occur within a multidisciplinary setting involving numerous paediatric health professionals including other specialist paediatricians, endocrine and diabetes nurse specialists, surgeons, psychologists and dieticians. We also provide an outreach clinic service to 13 District General Hospitals in the Thames region and Dublin, Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Malta.
The Complex Diabetes Service at GOSH is linked to the UCLH Diabetes Service and forms part of the North Central London Paediatric Diabetes Network. This Network aims to deliver a uniform package of care for children and adolescents with diabetes under a single umbrella organisation.
