Bobby Gaspar
He spends 40 per cent of his time seeing patients in the hospital and 60 per cent in the laboratory developing new gene therapy treatments for complex diseases of the immune system.
Bobby says he couldn’t wish for more in his professional career, and that following scientific discoveries right through from the laboratory to being used to treat patients in the hospital is unique and rewarding.

Qualifications
Bobby was born in Chennai, India in 1963. He studied Medicine, followed by Surgery, at Kings College London. He came to GOSH in 1992 as junior doctor and within a year started PhD at the UCL Institute of Child Health, which looked at gene therapy in the laboratory.

Professor Gaspar's research spans many aspects of primary immunodeficiencies including:

- haematopoietic stem cell transplantation
- gene therapy
