About the Great Ormond Street Hospital Neurodisability Service
The Wolfson Neurodisability Service at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) offers expertise in comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and advice on management of children with complex neurodevelopmental disorders.
The service is comprised of a number of specialist multidisciplinary teams, which may include people who deal with a range of issues surrounding these neurodevelopmental disorders.
These professionals can include developmental paediatricians, paediatric neurologists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, assistive technologists and administrative staff.
The service provides both centre-based and outreach services. It aims to support families and local child development teams in their care of children by helping to assess needs, increase understanding and solve problems.
The service strives to work collaboratively with local services to provide a fully integrated approach.
The service aims:
- to provide an understanding of children’s developmental difficulties and diagnoses and to discuss the implications of these with families
- to respond to questions raised by parents and local teams
- to provide specialist multidisciplinary assessments
- to make recommendations for the management of a child’s needs and appropriate intervention
- to liaise effectively with primary and secondary services
- to provide a comprehensive written report for families and key professionals
We see children from all over the United Kingdom and from countries within the EU as well as those that hold bilateral agreements with Great Ormond Street Hospital. We also have particular links with the North Thames area.
