Join the 5k family fun run in London’s iconic Hyde Park to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

A great day out

The RBC Race for the Kids is Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity’s 5k annual family fun run. It will return this year with a fresh autumn look on Saturday 7 October in London’s iconic Hyde Park. This year is expected to be the biggest yet, helping to raise even more money for GOSH.

Suitable for all ages and abilities, the inclusive fun run will see children, parents and grandparents run, walk, scoot, wheel or jog around the accessible 5k course in support of GOSH and seriously ill patients from around the UK. Participants can join individually or in teams, taking in beautiful views of Hyde Park as they go, and with a post-race family festival, it’s a great day out for all.

Supported by Royal Bank of Canada for the eighth year running, this unique event sees thousands of hospital patients, families, staff and supporters come together. Last year, 7,500 people joined in, raising just under £1 million, and the charity hopes to raise even more this year!

The hospital’s most urgent needs

All the money raised will go towards the hospital’s most urgent fundraising needs, including pioneering research to find kinder treatments, providing cutting-edge equipment, and the essential refurbishment of the hospital to provide state-of-the-art facilities.

Tim Johnson, Chief Executive of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, says: “RBC Race for the Kids is a very special event, and this year, we’re really looking forward to hosting our inclusive fun run in London’s iconic Hyde Park. I’d encourage everyone to take on the challenge and join us on Saturday 7 October to jog, walk or wheel their way around the course. All the money raised will make a vital difference to seriously ill children from across the UK.”

Dave Thomas, CEO, RBC Capital Markets, Europe, says: “Our longstanding partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity is very important to all of us at RBC, and every year employees go to extraordinary lengths to raise money for the vital work the hospital does. We are excited to bring the RBC Race for the Kids to Hyde Park this year and hope the new, bigger venue will mean even more people can take part and raise money for this very special cause.”

To date, Royal Bank of Canada has raised more than £2.2 million for GOSH. The Royal Bank of Canada Neurosciences Unit at GOSH, which will open at the end of 2017, is a brand-new facility for children with some of the most severe and specialist neurological cases, such as epilepsy and brain tumours.
