The aim of this course is to improve your clinical reasoning and practical skills in relation to splinting and casting in paediatric Cerebral Palsy (CP).
The course is designed for clinicians who have some experience of working with children with CP. Prior knowledge of upper limb anatomy and assessment at a beginner level is desirable. Pre-course reading in these areas is provided which is recommended prior to course commencement.
By the end of the course, motivated learners will have improved understanding of:
- Assessment principles for upper limb range of movement and muscle tone
- Medical and surgical management options for upper limb neurology
- The need for interventions complementary to splinting and casting
- Clinical reasoning to support decision making when splinting and casting
- The principles of safe splinting and casting
- How to fabricate upper limb thermoplastic splints and casts
Course structure:
The course is run over 3 consecutive days face-to-face. Learners then join a ½ day follow up Zoom meeting 2 months later to consolidate knowledge.

Standard rate: £600
