Sepsis 6 Protocol

Sepsis is a life-threatening, overwhelming response to an infection.

The purpose of this guideline is to provide guidance on the paediatric Sepsis 6 protocol to support the early identification and treatment of sepsis.

The Sepsis 6 is a set six of interventions which can be delivered by any healthcare professional and must be implemented within the first hour.

Skin preparation for the insertion of vascular access devices

This guideline details the best practice in preparing the patient's skin before undertaking the specified invasive procedures to minimise the risk of infection.
