Recruitment

When vacancies arise we aim to advertise via the Times Educational Supplement (TES) onlinee-Teach or the Guardian online, in accordance with our equal opportunities and pay policies.

Please note that we do not accept CVs for teacher vacancies.

We offer one or two week ‘observation’ placements for students enrolled on courses such as PGCE or NVQ who need to observe ‘alternative’ settings.

Teaching Assistant KS1-2 – Term time only (1 year contract-maternity cover)

Required from September 2018

Scale 4 Point 18-21 Term time only 39 weeks 

£19,170 - £20,631 (Full-time equivalent £22,377 - £24,082)

The successful applicant will support the delivery of high quality education for KS1-2 pupils in our schoolrooms based at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The role can be very varied. For example, at times you may be expected to work one-to-one with a pupil who may have specific barriers to learning or SEND, whilst at other times you could be expected to break off from the main class with a small group of students to deliver targeted activities. 

Working in this unique setting means there is an expectation of working alongside children of all ages with a range of special educational needs including children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. 

You will need:

  • Experience of supporting primary aged pupils with English, Maths or Science
  • A proactiveattitude and an interest in children’s academic progress.
  • Grade C minimum in GCSE English and Maths
  • A university degree
  • To be passionate about working with young people in a multi disciplinary environment within a hospital
  • To enjoy working in a fast-paced, high quality environment that embraces change

At times you may be expected to work one-to-one with a pupil who may have specific barriers to learning or SEND, whilst at other times you could be expected to break off from the main class with a small group of high achieving students that require support in completing course work set by their ‘home schools’. 

Working in this unique setting means there is an expectation of working alongside children of all ages with a range of special educational needs including children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. 

You will need:

  • Experience of supporting young people in one or more core subjects eg English, Maths or Science
  • A proactiveattitude and an interest in young people’s academic progress.
  • Grade B minimum in GCSE English and Maths
  • A university degree
  • To be passionate about working with young people in a multi disciplinary environment within a hospital
  • To enjoy working in a fast-paced, high quality environment that embraces change
