Communication means talking, writing, reading and understanding. The SLT's job is to help people to communicate as best they can.

SLTs work with people who:

  • Have difficulty speaking because their muscles don’t work properly
  • Have problems understanding or using language
  • Have stammers
  • Have voice problems
  • Have difficulty swallowing

SLTs work in hospitals, schools, at people's homes and in health centres. They work with lots of different people, from small children to elderly people.
