What do YOU think GOSH should look like in 2030?
GOSH is halfway through an ambitious programme to rebuild two-thirds of the hospital site, so now is the perfect time for us to take stock of our progress and refresh our plans for the next 15 years of the Redevelopment programme.
We are currently constructing a new facility in the middle of the site called the Premier Inn Clinical Building. This second part of the Mittal Children’s Medical Centre will open in 2017, providing state-of-the-art surgical and in-patient facilities and allowing us to treat up to 20 per cent more children with the most complex, rare and often life-threatening conditions.
During the next phase we will build a brand new research and outpatient facility for childhood rare diseases and an ambulatory care centre for outpatients who require access to our specialist care and facilities.
We will also be making improvements to support new ways of providing care and improve the hospital ‘journey’ for our outpatients.
We want to make GOSH the best children’s hospital in the world, so it’s vital that the redevelopment priorities in our Development Control Plan (DCP) meet the needs of patients, families and carers.
The consultation is open until Christmas and your feedback will help us finalise our 15 year DCP early in 2015.
Feedback so far
We held a drop-in workshop for children and young people at the Lagoon Restaurant in October with fun activities to inspire patients and families to think about what the GOSH of the future might look like.
Click here to read more about what they had to say.
We also met with the GOSH Young People’s Forum. Some of their fantastic suggestions have been captured on an online interactive message board prepared especially for the consultation.
