Find out more about the benefits of being a member of Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) for Children NHS Foundation Trust.
Foundation Trust membership is important. It enables us to stay independent and retain our position as one of the UK’s leading paediatric hospitals.
The Trust Board depends on the membership to keep them in touch with what’s needed at the hospital and how best to improve services, making sure that we put the child first and always.
Membership is free and everyone over 10 years old is welcome to join.
As a member, you can:
Help to shape the hospital's future
You really can play a key role in shaping the future of this unique and pioneering place. As a member, you are represented by elected governors who sit on the Council of Governors. The Council is made up of patients, parents, staff at GOSH, appointed governors and members of the public who care about the hospital. The Council helps to involve members in our long-term vision and planning, and acts as a critical friend and guardian of our values
Please get in touch with a governor if you have any feedback or ideas that you would like to share, or if you want to find out what it’s like to be a governor.
Get regular updates from the membership team
Sign up to receive our twice yearly magazine Member Matters and our monthly Get Involved email to find out what's going on at the Trust and GOSH Charity, read about the latest projects and developments and find out how you can join in. The membership is also a gateway to other GOSH opportunities such as work experience, joining committees and personal development
Share your thoughts and experiences
Some members choose to express their opinions and feedback by completing our annual survey, which will ask for your views on key services. Others take a more active role, providing important advice and guidance on aspects of how the Trust moves ahead. You could come along to one of our public meetings and share your thoughts with the Council of Governors to help improve the hospital
Choose your own level of involvement
You can contribute as much or as little as you wish. You can simply vote for a governor to represent your area, or be more actively involved by standing for election as a governor to the Council yourself. Take part in focus groups and listening events or come along to our Annual General Meeting and Annual Member's Meeting - you could even take part in take-over events and take over the GOSH Twitter profile for a day!
Sit on an interview panel
Join an interview panel to select new Board members; you can pose questions to candidates and represent your constituency by helping to make sure the right person gets the job and will fit in with the GOSH community and our Always Values
Attend health seminars
We plan to hold health seminars for our members throughout the year on specific conditions, treatments, services and health topics. You can hear from a clinician or researcher about their latest findings, get tips, ask questions and meet other patients, parents and carers in a similar situation. A guest patient speaker will join each seminar to share their views and experiences - this could be you!
