The Infection, Cancer and Immunity Unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is looking to recruit nurses with a range of skills to join our multidisciplinary team.
The unit comprises the specialties of:
- haematology (malignant and non-malignant)
- palliative care
- infectious diseases
- blood and marrow transplant
We care for our patients on dedicated inpatient wards, daycare areas and in a variety of outpatient settings. We promote shared care with local hospitals, and work closely with local community teams.
Many of our children are very sick, with challenging and life-shortening or changing consequences. Although many of our patients live in London, a significant proportion come from elsewhere in the UK, which can present its own difficulties for both families and the hospital in ensuring well co-ordinated care.
We pride ourselves on providing high-quality care for all the patients and families referred to us, and are active in trialing new therapies and ways of working. This includes encouraging and developing more nurse and therapist-led services.
None of the work we do is possible without our nursing team. We endeavour to provide comprehensive training to all our nursing staff that is tailored to the environment they are working in and the needs of our patients.
Ongoing support is provided by our team of practice educators, working closely with the sisters and matrons. All staff are actively encouraged to pursue educational opportunities that will help with their career progression - this includes many in-house courses as well as day release to study for postgraduate degrees.
We do hope that you will decide to join our team - we love working here, and we hope you will too.
