Entry requirements

Interested applicants will need to be financially supported by their home organisation and will have to meet our entry requirements before being accepted onto the programme.

Please note that GOSH does not provide scholarships or funding for this scheme and you must meet our entry requirements for consideration.

Entry requirements for the International Fellowship Programme:

  • Have funding agreed with your home organisation to commit to a full time UK salary (equivalent to £55,000) AND a placement fee. Please note, GOSH does not provide scholarships for this programme.
  • A medical degree that is acceptable to the UK General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Have four years or more of specialty training at the time of entry.
  • Have a postgraduate qualification in their chosen specialty, such as Membership or Fellowship of a United Kingdom Royal College, or an equivalent relevant postgraduate qualification from their home country.
  • Be in full time clinical work for the year directly prior to their Fellowship start date and to have been in clinical work for a minimum of three out of the five years prior to commencing the Fellowship.
  • Have already obtained the Academic IELTS for UKVI from a British Council SELT (Secure English Language Testing) centre with an overall score of 7.5 or more and with a minimum score of 7.0 in each domain in one sitting in each domain or the OET (Occupational English Test) Medicine version with a score of B in each domain, from a British Council SELT centre. Please note that required certificates are valid for two years from the date obtained.
  • Alternatively, candidates may apply if they are already registered with the GMC and have, or will have, completed at least four years of specialty training.
